I’m proud to act as PR Consultant and Press Officer for the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, a leader amongst those holding governments and institutions to account for the tragedy of maternal and newborn mortality.
My work for the charity includes press trips to developing countries, high profile events, VIP and celebrity liaison, NGO partnerships, media partnerships and high level media relations internationally.
As part of this I often work with coalition partners such as Action Aid, Amnesty, Care, Mums Net, One, Oxfam, Save the Children, Water Aid and Women for Women on joint campaigns and events such as International Women’s Day on 8 March every year.
What’s more the WRA is really making a difference. The number of women dying is going down, while investment is going up - and people are talking about this issue as never before. We now have an unprecedented $70billion commitment made to maternal and child health under the UN Secretary General’s Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health, something which the WRA were instrumental in achieving.
