The History Of Happy PR

The ethos behind Happy is to work with passion, integrity, intelligence and creativity.

Jenny Rose - Happy PR

I started in PR as a graduate trainee with the wonderful Judith Patten PR in 1996.  There I learnt on the job, working on projects as diverse as Tudor Jousting at Hatfield House, the composition of Gardening Columns for Syon House and running the press office for Helitech Europe.

From here I worked my way through a number of central London Consumer and Lifestyle  PR Agencies, developing a wealth of experience across a wide breadth of sectors along the way. I worked up to Associate Director level before deciding to work for myself in 2005, when I became a freelance PR consultant and launched Happy PR.

Industry Sectors:  issues, lifestyle, business, fmcg, publishing, arts, youth, food and drink, travel and beauty, to name but a few.

I’ve worked with large retailers such as Waterstone’s to start-ups like The Friday Project; Established Brands such as the National Lottery to brand launches as with Halos n Horns; Massive public events such as the World’s Biggest Potter Party (for the launch of Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix) to intimate VIP events such as White Ribbon Alliance’s Global Dinner Party launch with Sarah Brown and Annie Lennox or The Launch of The Prince’s Countryside Fund with HRH The Prince of Wales at Clarence House.

What I love most about being an independent consultant is all the different people I get to meet and projects I get to work on.  It’s exciting and I love my work.

Whilst the media and how we communicate may have diversified since '96, the secret to PR success remains the same:

  • Know your audience
  • Clarify your message/USPs
  • Find your angle/Create your story
